Overview

JEE Main and JEE Advanced are two separate entrance exams for admission to undergraduate engineering programs in India. JEE Main is the first step for admission to National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian Institutes of Information Technology (IIITs), and other centrally funded technical institutions (CFTIs). Candidates who score well on JEE Main are eligible to take the JEE Advanced exam, which is the second and final step for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). JEE Advanced is considered to be one of the most difficult engineering entrance exams in the world. It covers topics in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at the class 12 level. The test is conducted by IITs on a rotation basis.

Description

JEE Main is the first step in the two-step process for admission to undergraduate engineering programs in India. It is a computer-based test that covers topics in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at the class 12 level. JEE Main is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) twice a year, usually in January and April.

JEE Advanced, on the other hand, is the second and final step in the admission process for the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). It is considered to be one of the most difficult engineering entrance exams in the world. The test covers topics in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics at the class 12 level and is conducted by the IITs on a rotation basis.

To be eligible to take JEE Advanced, candidates must score well on JEE Main and meet certain other criteria, such as age limits and number of attempts. Candidates who perform well on JEE Advanced are offered admission to the IITs and other prestigious engineering institutions in India.
